Welcome
My name is Dr. Ryotaro Omichi, and I’m an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist based in Okayama, Japan. I currently serve as the Medical Director of this clinic, bringing with me extensive experience from my previous role as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Okayama University Hospital, where I provided advanced care and helped train the next generation of ENT surgeons.
My clinical focus is minimally invasive ear surgery, especially transcanal endoscopic ear surgery (TEES)—a technique that uses a small endoscope inserted through the ear canal to treat chronic infections, cholesteatoma, or repair eardrum perforations. I played a leading role in introducing and developing this approach at Okayama University Hospital, making ear surgery safer, less painful, and faster to recover from. In addition to ear surgery, I regularly performed endoscopic sinus surgeries and head and neck cancer surgeries. I also specialize in genetic counseling for hereditary hearing loss and facial nerve disorders, offering advanced care supported by the latest medical research.
From 2018 to 2020, I completed postdoctoral research training at the University of Iowa in the United States, where I worked on gene therapy for hearing loss. My time in the U.S. helped me understand American patient expectations—clear communication, transparency, and respect for personal choices. I speak English and am happy to consult directly with international patients. Whether you are a resident in Japan, a traveler, or an expat seeking high-quality ENT care, I aim to make your visit comfortable and informative. My mission is to treat not just the disease, but the whole person—with care that is compassionate, evidence-based, and tailored to your unique needs. If you have any questions or would like to book a consultation, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I look forward to supporting your health and well-being.
Ryotaro Omichi, M.D., Ph.D.

Introducing the "Digisuma" Smart Clinic System – Starting August 2025
To improve your experience and support sustainable medical practices aligned with the SDGs, our clinic will introduce the “Digisuma” smart clinic system, developed by M3, Inc., starting in August 2025.
With this new system, your smartphone will serve as your digital patient ID card, and payments can be completed seamlessly through the app. This allows for a smoother, faster visit—from check-in to check-out—without the need to wait at the reception after your consultation.
Before your visit, we kindly ask that you download the “Digisuma Clinic” app and complete the registration process. By entering your credit card information in the app, payment will be processed automatically after your appointment, allowing you to leave the clinic without delay.
If you are unsure how to download or set up the app, our staff will be happy to assist you at the front desk.
Please note: In line with our efforts to reduce paper use and improve efficiency, paper patient ID cards will be phased out. If you do not have a smartphone or are unable to use the app, a paper card can be issued for an additional fee (actual cost). Thank you for your understanding.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work to provide a more comfortable and environmentally conscious clinic experience.
Please Complete the Online Medical Questionnaire Before Your Visit
To help us provide you with efficient and personalized care, we kindly ask that you complete the online medical questionnaire (Web Monshin) before your visit, using either the app or our clinic’s website.
Please select the questionnaire that best matches your main symptoms and fill it out as thoroughly as possible. By submitting this form in advance, our doctors can review your condition ahead of time and make the most of your consultation. This also helps reduce your time spent at the clinic and shortens overall waiting times.
If You Are Unable to Complete the Questionnaire in Advance
If the online questionnaire is not submitted before your appointment, your consultation order may be delayed. You will be asked to fill out the form upon arrival, which may result in a longer wait time.
If you have difficulty accessing or completing the form at home, our staff will be happy to assist you when you arrive at the clinic. Please don’t hesitate to let us know—we’re here to help.
Specialty Clinics by Time Slot Reservation
For our Fever Clinic, Hearing Loss Clinic, and Dizziness Clinic, we operate on a time-slot reservation system to ensure personalized and attentive care for each patient.
Please book your preferred time slot through our website. Patients will be seen in order during the selected time frame.
If the specialty clinic time slots are fully booked but you are experiencing symptoms such as hearing loss or dizziness, we can still see you during our general outpatient hours, which follow a queue-based reservation system. In that case, please let us know when making your appointment or include this information in your online questionnaire.
Please note that depending on the condition and urgency of other patients, the order of consultation may change.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Thank you for choosing our clinic. We welcome patients from around the world and are committed to providing safe, high-quality medical care in a comfortable and respectful environment.
For patients who do not have Japanese public health insurance, please note that medical fees will be calculated at three times the standard rate set by the national health insurance system in Japan. This adjustment is necessary to account for the full cost of providing care, including consultation time, administrative support, translation if needed, and the preparation of medical documents.
This pricing is in line with common practice among medical institutions in Japan that serve international patients. We will always provide a clear explanation of fees in advance, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have before or after your visit.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Our goal is to make your experience with us as smooth and reassuring as possible.
If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask our staff.
